Anglo-Indian Wedding at Elmley Nature Reserve

Updated: Nov 25

It’s hard to know where to start with this stunning Anglo-Indian wedding! We had the most amazing time enhancing Zeena’s natural beauty for her epic Anglo-Indian ceremony at the beautiful grounds of Elmley Nature Reserve. Seeing the wedding featured in Vogue was simply the icing on the cake.

The Mehndi Party The celebrations kicked off at Elmley Nature Reserve with a traditional Indian wedding tradition, a Mehndi Party. Hosted the night before the wedding ceremony the Mehndi is a time for friends and family to bless the couple and enjoy some Henna tattoos. In true Indian wedding style the guests were all dressed beautifully and bright in traditional Indian dress, honouring the vibrancy and colour of Indian Wedding Rituals.
The Pithi Ceremony The Pithi ceremony is another Indian wedding tradition that  can be quite a messy one but it wasn't a problem for Elmley! It is essentially where family and friends cover the bride and groom in a mixture of  chickpea flour, rose water paste and turmeric prior giving them a wedding day glow! Which turned out to be perfect skin prep for us to work on the next day!
Weddings at Elmley Nature Reserve

This Anglo-Indian celebration was made even more beautiful by the astonishing grounds of Elmley Nature Reserve. Nestled in the Isle of Sheppey, this stunning wedding venue immerses you in nature with its expansive landscapes and vibrant wildlife.  Eleanor and the team at Elmley are wonderful and we’re already hoping to be back for a wedding or maybe even a peaceful weekend retreat!

The East London Wedding ceremony

The second part of Zack and Zeena’s Anglo-Indian Wedding celebrations took place in Hackney, East London.  The pair wedded at Hackney Town Hall with a vibrant celebration, fusing British and Indian Wedding traditions with a playful colour palette.

Chic Reception at The Marksman

As day turned to night, the celebrations wrapped up with friends and family at The Marksman, a stylish pub on Hackney Road. With its blend of contemporary design and classic British charm, The Marksman provided the perfect backdrop for an intimate yet lively reception. The cosy atmosphere, warm lighting, and eclectic décor created an inviting space for heartfelt toasts, laughter, and dancing late into the evening, making it a memorable end to a perfect weekend of Anglo-Indian celebrations.
